The bone tissue is a connective tissue of two types. These are compact bone and spongy bone. The compact bone is made of its unit called osteon or Haversian system. The Haversian System consists of Haversian canal, lamellae, lacunae. The lacunae are joined together by very small channels called canaliculi. The canaliculi provide passage by which nutrients reach to the osteocytes and waste products can leave from canaliculi. Whereas, spongy bone does not have osteons. Spongy bone consists of thin columns of bone called trabeculae.
