If the two events are mutually exclusive, that is they both can not happen at the same time.

P(Q or R) = P(Q) + P(R)

= 0.18 + 0.2 = 0.38

P(Q or R) = 0.38

Answer:

The value of P(Q or R) is 0.344 .

Explanation:

As given

P(Q )= 0.18

P(R) = 0.2

Now by using the property .

P(Q or R) = P(Q) + P(R) - P(Q and R)

Where P(Q and R) = P(Q) × P(R)

First find out P(Q and R) .

P(Q and R) = 0.18 × 0.2

= 0.036

Now putting the value in P(Q or R) = P(Q) + P(R) - P(Q and R) .

P(Q or R) = 0.18 + 0.2 - 0.036

= 0.38 - 0.036

= 0.344

Therefore the value of P(Q or R) is 0.344 .
