Choose an equation in slope-intercept form for the line that passes through (0,7) and is parallel to the y=4x-19

a. y= (1/4)x - 7
b. y= (1/4)x + 9
c. y = 4x + 3

If you are looking for an equation that is parallel to y = 4x -19, we know the answer must have the same slope. The slope of the given equation is 4 (because m = 4 in this case), therefore, we can eliminate answers a) and b). Next, we need a y-intercept, or "b". I will take the equation of a line:
y = mx + b, substutute the given (0, 7) into the equation 7=m(0) + b, and substitute the 4 as the slope, so 7 = 4(0) + b. Simpllify this to 7 = b. Find an answer that has 7 as the "b" and 4 as the "m", and we have answer D.

y = 4x - 19...slope here is 4...parallel lines will have the same slope

y = mx + b
slope(m) = 4
(0,7)...x = 0 and y = 7
now sub

7 = 4(0) + b
7 = b

so ur equation is : y = 4x + 7
