Tanya distributes pencils to students in her class for an upcoming test. The number of pencils she hands out is given by the equation p = 3s, where p is the number of pencils and s is the number of students. If there are 16 students in Tanya's class, how many pencils did she distribute?

p = 3s s = 16

p = 3*16

p = 48

She distributed 48 pencils.

Plug in the values you know.
That value would be s(or students)=16.
So you would get p=3(16). 3x16 is equal to 48 so p is equal to 48.
