What is the solution to the equation sqrt (2x + 8) − 6 = 4. . someone check my work please.. . sqrt (2x+8) - 6 = 4 . #1 add 6 to both sides . . sqrt (2x+8) - 6 + 6 = 4 + 6. sqrt (2x+8) = 4 + 6 4 + 6 = 10. sqrt (2x+8) = 10. square both sides. (sqrt 2x+8)^2 = 10^2 10^2 = 100. (sqrt 2x + 8)^2 = 2x + 8. 2x+8 = 100. x=46 . .

Hello,

We suppose that
2x+8>=0
==>x>=-8/2
==>x>=-4

√(2x+8)-6 =4
==>√(2x+8)=10
==>2x+8=100
==>2x=92
==>x=46 which is >=-4

Sol={46}
Proof:
√(2*46+8)-6=√100-6=10-6=4

First, group all the constant on one side of the equation,
sqrt (2x + 8) - 6 = 4
sqrt (2x + 8) = 10
Square both sides,
(sqrt (2x + 8))² = 10²
2x + 8 = 100
Find the value of x
x = 46
The solution is correct.
