As per conservation of energy, the work done by the machine does not change. it can only change the force and distance to make the work easier.

work done by the machine is given as

Output work = output force x output distance

W = F d

d = W/F

clearly, for a constant work done by machine, the output distance is inversely related to the output force. that means, if the output force is increased, the output distance will decrease to keep the work done same.

hence the output distance decrease.
