1. American literature consists of five literary movements.
Literary movements are divisions created in order to classify literature that presents similar topics, philosophical inclinations, or aesthetic features. These divisions are not perfect, and literary movements often overlap, or are subject to debate.
2. The Mayflower Compact.
William Bradford was an English Puritan who emigrated to the Plymouth Colony on the Mayflower in 1620. He signed the Mayflower Compact and served as Governor of Plymouth Colony between 1621-1657. He is also author of Of Plymouth Plantation, his journal from 1620 to 1657.
