percent formula : is/of = %/100
is = 20
% = 85
of = x
now we sub
20/x = 85/100...this is a proportion, so we cross multiply
85x = 20 * 100
85x = 2000
x = 2000/85
x = 23.529
or..
20 is 85% of what number
20 = 0.85x
20/0.85 = x
23.529 = x
