we know that

i^(2) =-1

we have

√(-16) =√((-1)*(16)) =\sqrt{(-1)*(4^(2))}

substitute the value of
i^(2)=-1 in the expression above

\sqrt{(-1)*(4^(2))}=\sqrt{i^(2)*4^(2)} \\ \\= 4i

therefore

the answer is

4i
