Molar mass:

C₆H₁₂O₆ = 12 x 6 + 1 x 12 + 16 x 6 = 180 g/mol

C₆ = 12 x 7 = 72 g ( in the sample )

180 g ------------- 100 %
72 g ---------------- ?

C = 72 x 100 / 180

C = 7200 / 180

= 40% of carbon
