1A. Homer Plessy was the first African American to challenge segregated transportation in the Jim Crow south.

1B. Louisiana, 1892.

2. He did this because he intended to test the constitutionality of Louisiana's segregation law.

3. It inspired more African Americans to stand up for their rights, and stand against racial segregation.
