Jimmy has a diecast metal car that is a scale model of an actual race car. If the actual length of the car is 10 feet 6 inches and the model has a length of 7 inches, what is the scale factor of the model to the actual car?

The scale factor would be -8 because...

126 inches / 7 inches = 8 inches.

Because the car is bigger than the scale, it would be a negative scale factor.
