First we sub n=8 into the equation.
1/2m-3/4(8)=16
1/4 of 8 = 2 therefore 3/4 = 6
1/2m-6=16
Reverse equations
add 6
1/2m=22
multiply 1/2 which is the same as dividing by 2
m=11
