The pyramids were built, with help for the slaves, by the ancient pharaohs of Egypt as tombs for preserving their royal bodies. The pyramids were meant to be monuments to the pharaohs bgreatness, filled with treasures for the after life.

The ancient Egyptians built pyramids as tombs for the pharaohs and their queens. The pharaohs were buried in pyramids of many different shapes and sizes from before the beginning of the Old Kingdom to the end of the Middle Kingdom.
