There are some plants that they need an acidic soil to grow better like the bluberries, strawberries and azaleas, all of them need a soil with a pH around of 5.5.

In the other hand, some other plants like arugula, beans and brocoli, they prefered a soil with a pH around 8.5.

A stable pH is essential for the growth of plants in soil. There are three main important things for the plant growth: (1) nutrients in soil, (2) water, and (3) carbon dioxide. A process called acid leaching may be used to remove the heavy metals which impede the growth of plants.
