we have the equation

-5x+3(x+5)=11

solve for x

Apply distributive property left side

-5x+3(x)+3(5)=11

-5x+3x+15=11

Combine like terms

-2x+15=11

substract 15 on both sides

-2x+15-15=11-15

simplify

-2x=-4

Divide by -2 on both sides

-2x/-2=-4/-2

simplify

x=2
