xy = 450

y = x/2 => x=2y substituted inside first equation will get 2y*y=450 => y^2 = 225

y=15 because 15*15=225

x=2y so x=2*15 = 30

x=30
y=15

hope this will help you

Answer:

(1)/(2)y\cdot y=450

Explanation:

Let x represent 1st number and y represent 2nd number.

We have been given that the product of two numbers is 450. We can represent this information in an equation as:

x\cdot y=450...(1)

We are also told that the first number is half the second number. We can represent this information in an equation as:

x=(1)/(2)y...(2)

To solve for greater number ,y, we will substitute equation (2) in equation (1) as:

(1)/(2)y\cdot y=450

Therefore, our required equation would be
(1)/(2)y\cdot y=450.
