L X W = A…. A/L = W.

65.25/9.66 = 6.75 (6 3/4)

Answer-

The width of the pieces of construction paper is
6(3)/(4)\ \text{inch}

Solution-

James has a piece of construction paper with an area
65(1)/(4)=(261)/(4) inch²

Length of the paper is
9(2)/(3)=(29)/(3) inch

We know that,

\text{Area}=\text{Length}* \text{Width}

Putting the values,

\Rightarrow (261)/(4)=(29)/(3)* \text{Width}

\Rightarrow \text{Width}=(261)/(4)* (3)/(29)

\Rightarrow \text{Width}=(9* 3)/(4)

\Rightarrow \text{Width}=(27)/(4)

\Rightarrow \text{Width}=6(3)/(4)\ \text{inch}

Therefore, the width of the pieces of construction paper is
6(3)/(4)\ \text{inch}
