His salary doubled (x2), so you can eliminate B & C because they are + & -. You can eliminate A because that would represent his current salary. So, that leaves D) $2x.

We are given with an original salary of $x and it says that after x years, the salary doubles. Hence after 10 years of working in the company, the salary increases by twice the value of the original salary. The answer to this problem is 2 multiplied to $x or letter D. $2x.
