If one circular table has a radius of 4 feet and a center at C(–4, 6), find the center and equation of the table immediately to the left. (Assume that each table is uniform with a radius of 4 feet and that 1 foot = 1 unit on a coordinate plane.)

point o' will be (-17, 6)

Explanation:

In a circular table center 'o' of the table has coordinates (-4,6) and radius = 4ft.

We have to find the coordinates of o' center of another table placed at 5 ft. apart.

x-coordinates of o' = (-4) -(4 + 5 + 4)

= -4 -13

= -17

and y-coordinate will remain same as 6.

So point o' will be (-17, 6)

1st round table has a center located ate (-4,6)

radius is 4 feet and each unit is equal to one foot.

edge of the round table will land at (-8,6)

an additional 5 feet must be added to give space for the guests to walk between tables.

edge of the 2nd table to the left of the 1st table, (-13,6)

to get the center of the 2nd round table, add 4 feet: distance (-17,6)

The center of the table found immediately to the left of the 1st table is (-17,6)
