common tangent are lines that tangent to more than one circle at the same time.
In 2 circle in which one of them externally tangent to each other there are 3 possible common tangents to the circles,

2 of them external tangents and 1 of them is internal tangent

hope this helps

Answer: 3 possible common tangents to circles A and B .

Explanation:

A line that touches a curve or a circle at a point without crossing over is called tangent.

A line tangent to a circle is always perpendicular to the radius to the point of tangency.

When two circles touch each other externally, there are 3 lines which make right angle with radus of the circles at the point of intersection of circle and tangents.

Therefore, 3 common tangents can be drawn to the circles can exist .
