Given

FH= 4x

GH= x

FG= 2x+10

If the point G is on the line FH then the total of the two line segement FG and GH must be equal to FH

FH= FG+ GH

Putting the values in the above equation:

4x= 2x+10+x

4x= 3x+10 Solving for x

10= 4x-3x

10= x

FG= 2x +10

FG = 2(10) +10 Putting the value of x

FG= 20+10

FG= 30

Check :

FH= 4x= 4(10)= 40

GH= x= 10
