Find the volume of a cylinder with a diameter of 6 inches and a height that is three times the radius. Use 3.14 for pi and round your answer to the nearest hundredth. (Hint: You may only enter numerals, decimal points, and negative signs in the answer blank).

we know that

the volume of a cylinder is equal to


V=\pi r^(2) h

where

r is the radius of the cylinder

h is the height of the cylinder

in this problem


Diameter=6in\\ r=Diameter/2\\r=6/2\\r=3in\\ h=3r \\ h=3*3\\ h=9in

Substitute the values in the formula above


V=3.14* 3^(2)*9


V=254.34 in^(3)

therefore

the answer is


V=254.34 in^(3)

There are several information's of immense importance already given in the question. Let us write them down first.
Diameter of the cylinder = 6 inches
Then
Radius of the cylinder = 3 inches.
Height of the cylinder = 3 * radius
= 3 * 3
= 9 inches
Volume of the cylinder = (pi) * (Radius)^2 * Height
= 3.14 * (3)^2 * 9
= 3.14 * 9 * 9
= 254.34 cubic inches
