Edgar Allan Poe used literary devices to make the readers feel like the setting, people and emotions in the story seem like real.
3. The characters are described on how their characteristic changed because of problems and how they act on it to solve the problem.
4. Poe is a writer in the Romantic era and most of his works deal with intuition and emotion. The subject matter of art should deal with the emotions, and the greatest art was that which had a direct effect on the emotions. So, the audience are expected to have an emotional connection to the story.
