if weight is the force of gravity on an object, then your weight can change if the force of gravity is different on a different planet?

Yes, your weight can change if the force of gravity is different on a different planet.

Like on the Moon because acceleration due to gravity is 1/6 that on the Earth, your weight on the Moon would be 1/6 the value on the Earth.

But note that you mass remains the same.

Yes, (but you may write this incorrectly) weight is defined as the mass of an object times the gravitational acceleration.

as: W = M*g

where, for example, in Earth g = 9.8m/s^2

This means that if you go to a place with a smaller gravitational acceleration (for example the moon) your weight will be smaller (because the gravitational acceleration in the moon is smaller than in the Earth)
