Suppose there are 8 blue, 4 green, 11 yellow, and 7 red buttons in a bag. If you randomly pick out one button, what is the probability it is red or green?

11/29 i believe. Cuz you add them all together and get 29 and then red and green added together is 11

Answer:
(11)/(30)

Explanation:

Given : The number of red buttons = 7

The number of green buttons = 4

The total number of buttons = 8+4+11+7= 30

The probability of picking a red button is given by :-

P(R)=\frac{\text{Red buttons}}{\text{Total buttons}}\\\\=(7)/(30)

The probability of picking a green button is given by :-

P(G)=\frac{\text{Green buttons}}{\text{Total buttons}}\\\\=(4)/(30)

Since both the events are independent then the the probability it is red or green is given by :-

P(R\cup G)=P(G)+P(R)\\\\=(4)/(30)+(7)/(30)=(11)/(30)
