Let g be the length of the rectangle; thus, its width is g-3.

Then, the perimeter of the rectangle is

\begin{gathered} P=g+g+(g-3)+(g-3) \\ \Rightarrow P=4g-6 \end{gathered}

Where P is in meters

Therefore, the cost of bordering the outside of the fountain is

\begin{gathered} \cos t=4P=4(4g-6)=16g-24 \\ \Rightarrow\text{ cost}=16g-24 \end{gathered}

The total cost is equal to 16g-24
