Why is blood type ab considered the universal receiver?

Blood types all have different antigens. People can only receive blood with the same antigens as theirs. Type A and B both have different distinct antigens. But because AB blood contains both A and B it can take blood from both those types. However, people with AB blood can also receive Type O blood because it lacks antigens entirely. Therefore, that makes AB the universal receiver.
