Shannon bought five lb of chocolate covered almonds at 3.25 dollars per pound, a cake for 25.99 dollars, and a gallon of ice cream for 5.25 dollars. She had a coupon for $2 off any cake over $15.00. How much did Shannon pay in all?

Find the sum of the amounts she paid for every item.

She bought 5 lb, each pound costs $3.25

5lb\cdot((3.25)/(lb))=16.25

She paid $16.25 for her chocolate covered almonds.

She also bought a cake for $25.99, but she had a coupon for $2, it means she paid 25.99 minus 2

25.99-2=23.99

She paid $23.99 for her cake

Finally, she bought a gallon of ice cream for $5.25.

Our last step is to find the sum of these amounts

16.25+23.99+5.25=45.49

She paid $45.49 in all
