Part=Whole x Percentage
Red Sea=Part
Mediterranean Sea=Whole
18%=Percentage
So change the equation so that you solve for the whole
Whole=Part/Percentage
so Mediterranean Sea=453000/0.18

Red sea = 18% of Mediterranean sea.

453 000 km² = (18/100) * M

453000 = 0.18M

453000/0.18 = M

M = 2 516 666.67 km²

Mediterranean sea ≈ 2 516 666.67 km²
