Find the x- and y-intercept of the line. 5x – 4y = 40

Answer:

x-intercept is 8; y-intercept is –10

This is a very simple problem if you solve it using the intercepts method. The x intercept=8 and the y intercept = -10

I figured this out by first covering up the -4y and seeing what x could be to make 40. The answer being 8. Then I covered up 5x and decided that -10 would give me 40 from -10.
