for f(x) = x2 and g(x) = (x − 3)2, in which direction and by how many units should f(x) be shifted to obtain g(x)?

f(x) = x²
g(x) = (x-3)²

g(x) is a perfect square.

x² should be shifted to the left by 3 units. This is because of (x-3)²

as you can see negative 3 is present. The negative sign means shifting x to the left by 3 units.
