Answer: 30 dollars

=================================================

Step-by-step explanation:

  • F = amount Frank has
  • F+9 = amount Tyler has, $9 more than Frank
  • (F+9)+15 = F+24 = amount you have, $15 more than Tyler, $24 more than Frank

Add up the three expressions mentioned. Set the sum equal to 96 and solve for F

(F+24) + (F+9) + F = 96

3F+33 = 96

3F = 96-33

3F = 63

F = 63/3

F = 21

Frank has $21

Tyler has $9 more than Frank, so Tyler has 21+9 = 30 dollars.

You have $15 than Tyler, so you have 15+30 = 45 dollars.

The total is 45+30+21 = 75+21 = 96 to help confirm we have the correct value of F and correct final answer for Tyler.

Side note: This entirely assumes that the $96 is to pay for the skateboard, and no money is left over.
