Improv is when you do something that is not planned or written in the music. For instance a singer can provide improv by doing a run or adding in an extra note or something of that nature. improv is mostly a drama term that is used for an unscripted scene between two or more actors, typically they are given a topic and thrown into a scene with no prep time.

Answer:

Improvisation is the art of composing and recording at the same time; that is, it is to invent on the spot.

A musician can improvise through a harmony, a melody, a solo, a riff, a rhythm, etc.

Step-by-step explanation:

Musical improvisation is the art of composing and recording at the same time; that is, it is to invent on the spot. An improvisation can be a harmony, a melody, a solo, a riff, a rhythm, etc.

This art differentiates creator musicians from reproductive musicians. Reproductive musicians are those who only reproduce or perform ready-made music. They usually have technique and good reading, but they are completely cast musically (dependent on a repertoire) and do not know what they are doing, they are just following a cake recipe.

Creative musicians are not limited to just playing ready-made music; they are able to change them, increase them, create new melodies or harmonies automatically. These are musicians who know what they are doing, they are the ones who understand what is behind the cipher and the agenda. They can talk musically.
