You drive on Interstate 10 from San Antonio to Houston, half the time at 74 km/h and the other half at 103 km/h. On the way back you travel half the distance at 74 km/h and the other half at 103 km/h. What is your average speed (a) from San Antonio to Houston, (b) from Houston back to San Antonio, and (c) for the entire trip? (d) What is your average velocity for the entire trip?

(a) and (b) are the same, assuming the trip took the same amount of time each way.

(74 + 103)/2 = 88.5 km/h

(c) also 88.5 km/h because all you've done is double both the distance and time traveled

(d) 0 m/s because this was a round-trip. There was no displacement.
