In literature, the SETTING refers to the time and place in which the events happen. Hence, the purpose of drawing a setting is that of addressing the reader to a particular place and time which will give sense to some events described in the story. The setting is important because such events would not be possible at any time or at any place. For example, people may regard sexuality in different ways depending on the passing of time and the place in which they live (a small town or a big city).
