Greg picks apples to make money over the summer. He earns $3 an hour plus $2.50 for each bushel he picks. Write a formula that will help Greg determine how much money he will earn in one week.

Let's let
a = Total amount earned
h = Hours worked in one week
b = Number of bushels picked.

Since he makes $3 an hour for picking apples, that is 3h,
$2.5 for each bushel he picks, that's 2.5b.
Together, we add these two for his total money earned in the week for picking apples.

The final equation is then a = 3h + 2.5nb to find how much money Greg earned in a week.
