Izzy's heartbeat rate was measured on an EKG machine. After conversion, the function produced could be modeled by a sine function and the wave produced a maximum of 8, minimum of -2, and period of π. Which of the following functions could represent Izzy's EKG read-out?

There are numerous information's already given in the question. Based on these information's, the answer can be easily deduced. Firstly the requirement is to find the amplitude.
So
Amplitude = (1/2) (xmaximum - xminimum)
= (1/2) [8 - (-2)
= (1/2) (10)
= 5
Now, we already know that the period is equal to pi and so the model can be written as
y = 5 sin x
I hope that the answer has come to your help.

First, we calculate the amplitude
A = (1/2) (xmax - xmin)
A = (1/2) (8 - (-2)) = 5

Since we're given with the period which is pi, then the coefficient of x is just 1. So, the model is
y = 5 sin x
