$x-the \ number \ of \ the \ spaniels \\ 4x-the \ number \ of \ the \ boxers \\\\ x+4x=30 \\\\ 5x=30 \\\\ \boxed{x=(30)/(5)=6 spaniels} \\\\ 6*4\to\boxed{24 \ boxers}$
