1 feet = 12 inches
so the formula is: length x width x height
now substitute in the values: 9 x 9 x 12
and the answer is:
972 inches cubed

you can do this 2 ways
9 inches times 9 inches time 12 inches = 972 inches cubed
OR
3/4 foot times 3/4 foot times 1 ft = 9/16 cubic feet
