The atomic size trend in the periodic table is increasing from right to left and from top to bottom. Hence when comparing a chlorine atom and a sodium atom, it is seen that chlorine is seen on the far left side of the periodic table while sodium is seen on the far right side. This means sodium is thus greater in atomic size than a chlorine atom.
