The event that initiated Islam's rise to power in India was the gradual Muslim conquest by the Mughal Empire. They ruled most of India during mid sixteenth century to mid nineteenth century. Prior to the Mughal Empire, in the twelve century, there were already several Islamic states that were established in India and it all started because of trading.
