Then, there are 8 total cars.

First, Devon will have an assigned car randomly.

The probability that Devon will drive a red bumper car is given by:

P(Devon) = red cars / total cars

Replacing:

P(Devon) = 2/8 = 1/4 = 0.25

Now, the probability for Akira to drive a red bumper car is:

P(Akira)= remaining red cars / remaining total cars

If we suppose that Devon got a red bumper car. Then:

2-1 = 1 red car

8-1 = 7 total cars

Replacing

P(Akira) = 1/7

Finally, The probability of both driving a red bumper car is:

P(Both)= P(Devon) *P(Akira)

Replacing:

P(Both)= 1/4*1/7 =1/26 =0.03

Expressed as a percent : 0.03*100= 3%
