The first figure pair of triangles cannot be proven congruent.

Proving for congruence of a pair of triangles is using the postulates SSS (side-side-side), ASA (angle-side-angle) and AAS (angle-angle-side).

SSA (same side-side-angle) is a condition wherein two triangles have two same sides and a non-included angle. More information such as the two corresponding angles and two corresponding sides might be needed to prove congruence

In proving the congruence of two triangles, there are four theorems which make use of the given angles and sides. The four are SSS, SAS, ASA, and AAS. S stands for the side and A stands for the angle. The order of the three dimensions is important. The first picture or choice A is the only one that did not follow (SSA). B has ASA, C has AAS and D has AAS, too. The answer to this problem is A.
