A number is doubled and then decreased by 14. The result is 72. What is the original number?

72 + 14 = 86
86 ÷ 2 = 43

So in the end you see this really isn't a very complicated question because the answer is 43

x-\ number\\\\ 2x-14=72\ \ \ |Add\ 72\ to\ each\ side\\\\ 2x=86\ \ \ |Divide\ by\ 2\\\\ x=43\\\\Number\ is\ 43.
