Find the result when 65 is increased by 40%. Please explain how to do this.

you have to change the 40% to a decimal. 40 divided by 100 is 0.40.
Therefore when you add 65 and 0.40 it will equal 65.4.

Add\ to\ 65\ 40\%\ of\ this\ number\\\\ Convert\ 40\%\ to\ decimal:\\40\%=(40)/(100)=0,4\\\\ 65+40\%*65=65+65*0,4=65+26=91\\\\ New\ number\ is\ 91.
