Which kind of wave does not need a medium to travel

Mechanical waves travel through three different mediums, namely: solids, liquids and gases. An example of which is sound. What we're looking for is not a mechanical wave. Light can act both as a particle and wave. Light does not need a medium or any other means to travel. In fact, light can still travel in space.
