Please help -- I know f(x+1) implies a shift to the left but I'm unsure as to if this means I should add or subtract 1 from each x coordinate. Thank you so much in advance!

The any graph input change any "c" unit so graph move "c" unit is left side so new point is :

a^(\prime)=a-c

Where :

\begin{gathered} a^(\prime)=\text{ point after transformation} \\ a=\text{ Original point.} \\ c=\text{ input add x line } \end{gathered}

new point is change in x axis so new points is:

y=f(x+1)

so the value of "c" is 1 then:

\begin{gathered} (5,-4) \\ a^(\prime)=5-1 \\ a^(\prime)=4 \\ \text{new point is:} \\ (4,-4) \end{gathered}

Similarly

\begin{gathered} (4,0) \\ a^(\prime)=4-1=3 \\ (3,0) \end{gathered}
\begin{gathered} (0,4) \\ a^(\prime)=0-1 \\ (-1,4) \end{gathered}
\begin{gathered} (-4,5) \\ a^(\prime)=-4-1=-5 \\ (-5,5) \end{gathered}
