The eccentricity of an ellipse is defined as the deviation of the circular path of an object. It is the ratio of focal points of a path. Since both the focal points are in the dimensions of the length therefore, the ratio of length only give a number. The units of length cancels out woth each other therefore, the eccentricity have only magnitude but not the units.
