Problem

Determine if the following equation has "One Solution", "No Solutions", or "Infinite Many Solutions".

5x + 9 = 5x – 4

Solution

we have the following equation given:

5x + 9 = 5x – 4

If we subtract in both sides of the equation 5x we got:

9 = -4

Since 9 is not equal to -4 we can conclude that this equation has no solutions and the best answer would be:

No Solutions
